Fun at the zoo!

Sunday we went to the Baltimore Zoo with our friends (and Siena's godparents), Brian and Sarah. I think the grown-ups had as much fun as Siena--Sarah even rode a camel!

One of Siena's great loves at the moment is sheep! She does 2 animal noises, “neigh neigh” and “ba ba.” When we took her to the petting farm a few weeks ago she went sprinting across the lawn when she saw a sheep calling out, “ Ba ba Ba ba!” The highlight of the zoo was split between the sheep and the goats in the petting area which she also referred to as “ba ba.” My grandfather, “Tom the Goat Man,” would be proud.

What a fun day!

18 months!

Thursday, Siena had her 18-month check-up. How has it been 18 months? Time has really flown. She weighed in at 26 lbs (75%) and 32-3/4” long (70%). (She used to be in the 90% for both so I guess she's leveling out.) I have been concerned that her little potbelly was a sign that I needed to limit her food (the kid loves to eat), but the doctor said she was “perfect,” so that was a relief.

I realized I haven’t said much here lately about the babe developmentally. Perhaps because there is just so much to say. Everyday Hans and I are surprised by a new word or ability. She LOVES to put things in and then take them out of anything. Lately one of her favorite things to do is to take magnets off of the magnetic chalkboard wall in the dining room and bring them into the living room one by one and arrange them on a chair. Once the whole set is in the living room, she starts to take them back to the dining room. She gets an amazing amount of satisfaction out of this!

She has lots of single words: ma ma, da da, hi, bye, bird, fish, shoe, juice, eye, nose, teeth, book, cat, baby, truck, & duck. We do a lot of “did she just say ___?” When she wants something she points and reaches and says “me me me me me.” We’re trying to work on “me please” which seems a little more polite!

Cutest Flower Girl Ever.

Windblown family photo.

The whole Beck clan.

Fun with the bride
(this was Siena's favorite outfit and she constantly took the lais on and off herself).

Pooped from a big day!!!

It moves!

Let's see if I can be high-tech! Siena at the beach in live action!

Nags Head! The beach returns!

We got back this evening from 4 days at the beach with my family for a wedding. The weather was lovely so we got to spend lots of time on the beach playing in the sand and wading in the very cold water! Siena picked up right where she left off last summer...

Aunt Beth taught her to make "drip castles."

She hunted for shells with my mom who, with Siena's help, we have dubbed "JoJo."

Her charms even got my sand-phobic brother in the grit with her!

Double fun!

Hans's mom came up from Florida for Mother's Day. It was great to have both Grandma and Pop here at the same time. Siena loved all the attention!

Boat trip!!!!

As you can see, Siena was a big help to Hans and Pop
getting the boat ready for their trip.

The Return of Pop

Hans's dad is in town for their annual fishing trip. Siena's enjoyed getting reacquainted!

Candle party!

We had dinner at our friends Mary Alice & Tim's last week and Siena found an awesome toy. A big basket of scented candles! She was in heaven! Sniff! Put it over here...now over here...now in the basket....sniff again. Very fun.

We all scream for ice cream!

Siena had her first ice cream cone a few weeks ago. Our local stand has these tiny cones perfect for little hands. It disintegrates before she eats it, but she has fun!!
