Turkey, meet Turkey

I am sure Siena must have the biggest collection of stuffed turkeys of any little girl (3). We played with some of them last night and she kinda hugged one of them. She looked very deep into the turkey eyes and touched its soft fur! It was the most engaged with a toy that I have seen her.

She's pretty good at supporting her head and will sit up if you balance her or put her in the Boppy pillow. But without warning she loses control and the head flys around, often resulting in a mighty head butt!

I went back to work this week and Siena started daycare. She's been a bit pigheaded about taking the bottles, but today she took all 3 without wailing. Yay!!!

Yum!

Siena is learning lots about her world. She's particuraly in love with her hands, the look and taste of them! She'll hold a toy in her hand and wave it around if we place it in her grasp. She's full of smiles, coos and very intense stares. She's taking it all in!

Siena as Florence Nightingale

My grandmother had a full knee replacement in January and came home from rehab last week. Siena and I went down to Richmond to stay with her and my mom and help with her rehab. Siena was a task-master, "Grannie do those exercises!!" -- which in Siena-speak sounds more like "Geee." The baby provided lots of distraction for Grannie Ruth and lots of quality time!

The other Grannie (Beck/Judy/JuJu???) gave Siena lots of bottles. After our initial bottle success last month, Siena decided she didn't want them anymore, but with daycare looming she has no choice! By the end of the week she was taking them with no problem, but wasn't happy about it when Dad tried again once we got home. We'll get there...

First major mildstone

Siena has now slept on her crib for 3 nights in a row. This feels like her first big-girl step. She's generally sleeping for 6 to 7 hours a night--so nice! I already can't believe how much she has changed and grown. Because of her reflux, she's been sleeping in her car seat next to our bed since early January. We bought a little wedge that raises her head up at bit and she seems happy. She moves around quite a lot at night and ends up perpendicular to where I put her down. What a big girl!!

Great Check Up!

Siena went for her 2 month check-up on Feb 1. She's doing great and is 12 lbs. 12 oz and 24" long. We are amazed that our tiny baby who left the hospital at 5 lbs. 11 oz is now in the 90% percentile for weight and off the charts for height. She's beautiful.

She has gotten more and more interactive. She smiles when you talk to her and occassionally almost laughs. (Check out an actual documented smile above with her new friend, Emme). She loves her bouncey chair, often more than Mom & Dad! Who wouldn't really, a vibrating sling back chair! Sweet!

More and more we feel like life is normalizing. I go back to work on Feb 26, so life will really change then, but I guess it's good to figure out our real lives as oppossed to my fantasy of staying home with the baby!
